There has been quite a bit of discussion about this brand on this site, so I don't think I need to introduce anyone to the concept behind these Australian undies - through the use of lightweight super-soft materials and a unique pouch design, the minds behind Obviously have endeavored to create some of the most comfortable underwear ever.

And for the most part, they seem to have succeeded.

I had to think twice about trying this renegade new brand. I wear high-end undies, just usually I pick them up in the clearance bin at Macy's for $3 per pair (then you can buy ten times as much!) So it was a bit of a sacrifice to spend $26 plus shipping at International Jock, and I was somehow sure that this brand would turn out to be gimmick not worth the expense, like many underwear gimmicks in the past. Turns out, I was wrong.

The anatomical pocket brief is Obviously's initial offering, and I picked up a pair in firetruck red (just to set them apart from my other pairs). As far as fit, I would say these run pretty spot-on, a big benefit being that the fabric is so stretch that a large (36-38) would comfortably fit both a true 36 and a true 38 without being too loose or too tight.

But let's talk about the infamous pouch - the, ahem, centerpiece to this particular brand. The pouch, unlike other slings and pockets and gizmos on other brands, is, I have to say, rather brilliant. Soft, pliable and stretchy, upon pulling the briefs up and on you kind of slide naturally right in with very little adjusting. Whether pequino or venti, pretty much any package would be well-accommodated by this innovation.

And yeah, the pouch makes these super-comfy. At first it took a little getting used to the fabric behind my balls, which at first caused a sensation not unlike when you part your hair the opposite way or put your wallet in the opposite back pocket, but once you get used to it, the pouch is indeed super-duper.

As far as appearance, these undies are pretty sweet. As you can tell in the ads, the pouch leaves very little to the imagination, so if you don't mind everything being front and center, this is a good choice. The material is very pliable, as I have said, so there is no lift to these. You hang comfortably however low mother nature intended you to. I am therefore not sure about the trunks or boxer-briefs, it seems like this could lead to a silly profile, but on the pocket briefs it looks pretty hot. I should also mention the material does wonders for one's ass also, not too loose and not too tight. Even my butt looks cute and pert in them.

I should also discuss the material briefly. Although many brands are experimenting with a modal/lycra blend, obviously gets it just right. The fabric is soft and light without being too sheer or insubstantial - perfect for the warm climate where I live. And, as some other members have pointed out, the material is super-stretchy, allowing more than enough room for growth, even to full-mast. Whether that's desirable when you're out and about in the world - well, I'll leave that up to you.

So yeah, the $30ish I spent was worth it, although I'd love to see these in the discount bins. In the meantime, I wear my one pair on the occasion where I want to feel a little sexier, comfier and undier than usual. (Is undier not a word? Dang, it should be.)
